TEACHING AND MENTORSHIP

As an undergraduate and graduate student, I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant in courses on statistics, inequality, theory, and even television studies! A few years ago, I was granted the unique chance to design and teach my own course on race and ethnicity, which I have now taught five times. I also mentor undergraduate research assistants in content analysis through my Representation in Media project and through individual and group workshops in R.

For my teaching, I’ve been honored to receive the Cornell Department of Sociology Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award and the Deanne Gitner and Family Annual Prize. I find the experiences of teaching and research to be inextricably tied to each other, both rewarding in their own rights and consistent reminders that the work we do as social scientists paves the way for the truth.

Below, please find an example syllabus from my course on race and ethnicity. For more teaching materials, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
